Mr. Gary Lock
Country Club Committee Chairman’s Message
Time flies. This year marks the 18th edition of The Clearwater Bay Champions Cup.
Last year was an immense success, attracting high-calibre ATP doubles players from Asia and Europe, including Olympian gold medalist and 2024 winner John Peers from Australia; 2023 winner and 2024 first runner-up Yuki Bhambri from India; and 2023 and 2024 runner-up John-Patrick Smith, also from Australia. We also recorded a record-high audience number, both on-site and through the television and online broadcasts by Radio Television Hong Kong.
The Champions Cup this year promises to be even more exciting, as we have secured the participation of ATP players ranked among the top 100 in doubles. Not to mention, some of them are familiar faces from past editions.
In Clearwater Bay, sport is much more than just competitions and championships; it serves as a platform for international exchange as well as a medium for connecting different sectors for the greater good. Bearing this in mind, we are taking it a step further by inviting the public to be part of the event through the CWB Singles ONE-POINT Challenge this year.
The CWB Singles ONE-POINT Challenge is held in conjunction with The Clearwater Bay Champions Cup 2025. For tennis enthusiasts, this is a unique opportunity to come to the Club to watch top-class doubles action while putting their tennis skills to the test in an exciting, adrenaline-fueled ONE-POINT shootout for a chance to win a grand prize of HK$20,000.
While the Club is offering a substantial prize to enhance the competition, the participants’ entry fees will be donated to The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club Charitable Foundation (the “Foundation”) to support its initiatives aimed at empowering disadvantaged youth. As the philanthropic arm of the Club, the Foundation is dedicated to helping underprivileged youth excel through sports training and activities while fostering an inclusive community.
This year’s Champions Cup is set on December 13th and 14th. I look forward to seeing all tennis lovers from Hong Kong and around the world either in person and via live stream here and on our YouTube channel.
