Country Club Committee Chairman’s Message

Time flies, and this year we proudly welcome the 17th edition of The Clearwater Bay Champions Cup. Same as the previous year, we are offering a total prize purse of over HK$500,000.

The Clearwater Bay Champions Cup is not just one of the most significant sporting events on the Club’s calendar, it’s also a popular tournament locally and around the region. For the past 16 years, we have been the only tennis event in Hong Kong to host current ATP tennis professionals – until the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association decided to reintroduce an ATP 250 Hong Kong Open event in 2023. Nevertheless, we continue to be the only indoor doubles professional men’s tennis event in town.

As Chairman Wong noted in his remarks, The Clearwater Bay Champions Cup has indeed brought the participants some good luck in their career development. Over the years, we have also attracted formerly ranked top 10 players including Jonathan Marray – who participated in 2018. Marray was a past Wimbledon Doubles Champion (2012) and held a career-high ranking of #15 globally.

Additionally, we welcomed Paradorn Srichaphan in 2011, who achieved a career-high ranking of #9 in Singles. These players not only elevate the tournament’s prestige but also inspire the next generation of tennis talents.

With a solid reputation as a leading tournament and platform for doubles players to shine, the tournament has gone from strength to strength over the years, attracting some of the world’s top doubles players. The Club is continually looking to improve the tournament experience for our members and the local tennis community by introducing fresh new faces.

This year, we are excited to feature an unprecedented line-up of top tennis talents including five top doubles teams from Asia and Europe . We are confident that this year-end spectacle will elevate the level of competition to new heights and further increase interest in tennis among Club members and the general public.
